Police have arrested nine people, including women, who were protesting semi-naked on the banks of Silsako Bill in Guwahati on Friday.
The protests were held during the eviction drive that was carried out at Silsako on September 1.
Those arrested will be produced in the court today. The detainees are Krishak Mukti Sangram Samiti general secretary Akash Dale, Guwahati Committee general secretary Bidyut Saikia, TMC’s Palakshi Das, Lachit Sena’s Vishal Chaudhary, Rakesh Rajvanshi and Vikram Koch.
Earlier, the police had also detained 34 protesters who were later released on personal bail.
The state government has assured to settle the affected people in Guwahati itself. These people will be given residential flats by the government. Besides, compensation will also be provided as per the house.
