Assam: Rise in number of Amur Falcons visiting Umrangso

The Chief Conservator of Forest, M. Tungnung, along with Divisional Forest Officer Tuhin Langthasa and Range Officer Donmai Thaosen, held an interactive session on the conservation of the Amur Falcons
The Chief Conservator of Forest, M. Tungnung, along with Divisional Forest Officer Tuhin Langthasa and Range Officer Donmai Thaosen, held an interactive session on the conservation of the Amur Falcons with the village of Gaon Buras, Dimasa Student Union, Karbi Students Association, and All Assam Gorkha Students Union.
During the meeting, the officials decided to form an Amur Falcon Conservation Committee soon to create awareness among the masses regarding the conservation of the Amur Falcon.
Chief Conservator of Forest M Tungnung, after visiting the roosting place, said that he has been instructed to keep vigil and also to provide possible help to the tourists visiting the place to watch the birds.
It may be mentioned that the falcons started roosting this year on October 15 at New Tungbung and adjacent places near Umrangsu reservoir and it is expected to continue till November 25.
Bird lovers from neighbouring states like Meghalaya, Nagaland, and Assam have been visiting the place to watch these unique raptors.
