Assam Rifles rescues 188 NHIDCL employees stranded in strife-torn Manipur and shifts to Mizoram

At least 188 National Highways & Infrastructure Development Corporation Ltd. (NHIDCL) employees stranded in trouble-torn Manipur have been rescued and shifted to a safe place in Mizoram by Assam Rifles.

As per inputs, the movement of the NHIDCL employees had been stopped by residents of Sinzawl Village in Churachandpur district and some local leaders due to the situation in the state causing extreme psychological tension for the employees and their families.

Following the situation, NHIDCL requested Assam Rifles for assistance in their evacuation to a safe place.

Aizawl Batallion reacted swiftly and dispatched rescue columns from their nearest operating bases.

In order to resolve the crisis and prevent it from escalating out of hand, Assam Rifles personnel cooperated with the village chiefs of adjacent villages and leaders of the Central Young Mizo Association (CYMA), Mizo Zarlai Pawl (MZP), Sinzawl.

In coordination with them, Assam Rifles successfully evacuated the 188 NHIDCL workers safely to nearby operating bases and provided them with food and shelter.

Though the villagers of Mimbung blocked the road, however, the issue was resolved amicably.

Assam Rifles lauded the mature and timely action of VCPs, local leaders of villages of both sides, CYMA and MZP office bearers which resulted in peacefully resolving the issue of shifting stranded employees from the sensitive area of Manipur to safer places in Mizoram.
