The Lunglei Battalion of Assam Rifles (Mizoram range) along with Mizoram Police apprehended two active cadres of the Kuki Chin National Army (KCNA), an insurgent group, on March 10.

One of the cadres is said to be in a high-ranking post at Hmunnuam village of Lawngtlai district.

The cadres were identified as one Zingramlian (32), and one Pazau (22) both were said to be Bangladeshi nationals.

“The cadres, both Bangladeshi nationals, were allegedly attending a meeting of KCNA at Bungtlang in which a plan was being hatched to smuggle weapons from Bangladesh to Myanmar. On their way back they took a halt at a location where Bangladeshi illegal immigrants have been resettled,” a release stated.

Acting on specific input, Assam Rifle launched an operation that helped in nabbing the cadres.

“Assam Rifles had specific intelligence about their movements and whereabouts and launched an operation which helped in nabbing the suspects. Though both the cadres tried to run away on being confronted, officer and Jawan from Assam Rifles pursued and chased the suspected cadres finally nabbing them,” it added.
