Assam reported 29 more deaths due to COVID-19 on Monday, while the number of positive cases rose to 4,489. This is the highest number of confirmed Coronavirus cases registered in a single-day this year.
The fresh cases have been detected out of 55,939 samples tested in the last 24 hours. Kamrup (M) alone has registered 1,645 positive cases.
The overall positivity rate has increased to 8.02 percent while the recovery rate stands at 88.91 percent.
Taking to Twitter, Health Minister Himanta Biswa Sarma wrote, “Summary of 03/5/2021 Today’s Total 4489 Overall Positivity Percentage (4489 cases out of 55939 test done = 8.02%) Kamrup(M) 1645 Death 29 Recovery Rate 88.91%.”
In another tweet, Sarma informed regarding the status of vaccine coverage in the state so far.
Till date, Assam has inoculated 26,73,928 people against COVID-19.
According to data provided by the Health Minister, the state has stock of 3,37,220 vaccine doses as of May 3.
