Assam registered is 7th COVID-19 death on Friday with a 73-year-old woman who had tested positive for the deadly coronavirus. The Covid positive woman died at Silchar Medical College and Hospital (SMCH).
The victim identified as Mangala Das hailing from Hailakandi district was undergoing treatment at SMCH.
The patient was also suffering cancer and had recently returned from New Delhi after treatment.
Meanwhile, a constable of Assam Police has tested positive for COVID-19 in Guwahati on Friday.
The constable identified as Anil Chandra Ray is from 8th Assam Police Battalion (APBN) at Abhayapuri under Bongaigaon district. He was in a temporary camp at Netaji Vidyapith Railway Higher Secondary School at Maligaon in Guwahati.
Ray who tested COVID-19 positive was deployed at Sarusajai quarantine centre. He was suffering from cough and mild fever. He is now being treated at Mahendra Mohan Choudhury Hospital (MMCH) in Guwahati.
