The Bogibeel railway cum road bridge which will connect Dibrugarh to Dhemaji, is all set to be completed within the next 3 to 4 months.

The 4.9 km bridge, which comprises of 39 spans will be India’s longest combined rail and road bridge and the second longest bridge over the Brahmaputra after the Dhola-Sadiya road Bridge that extends upto 9.15 km.

Assam’s PWD and Finance Minister, Dr Himanta Biswa Sharma who paid a visit to the Bogibeel Bridge this morning, reviewed the progress of the construction of the bridge. The PWD Minister in a tweet also thanked Prime Minister Modi for transforming and empowering the region through better means of connectivity.

 

It is to be stated that the railway cum road bridge will be of strategic importance to India as it will significantly enhance the country’s ability to transport troops and supplies to its border with Tibet in Arunachal Pradesh.
