Assam: Process of filing claims and objections for NRC begins

The filing of claims and objections for inclusion of names left out from the final draft NRC has begun across Assam. Over 40 lakh people whose names were left out

The filing of claims and objections for inclusion of names left out from the final draft NRC has begun across Assam.

Over 40 lakh people whose names were left out can now move to the respective NRC Seva Kendras to file their claims and objections. The process of filing claims and objections will continue till the September 28.

However, people can submit their objection or claim forms only from August 30 onwards.

The final draft NRC was published on the 30th of July where names of 2 crore 89 lakh 83 thousand six hundred seventy seven applicants had made the cut.

A total of 3.29 crore individuals had applied for inclusion of names in the national register of citizens.
