Voting is underway for the Tiwa Autonomous Council (TAC) election in Assam amid tight security arrangements and following COVID-19 protocols.
Polling for 35 council constituencies in parts of Morigaon, Nagaon, Hojai and Kamrup (Metro) districts began at 7:30 am on Thursday and will end at 4:30 pm.
A total of 124 candidates are in the fray in the council election and 3,08,409 voters will decide the fate of the candidates.
“We will definitely win. After BTC, BJP will also form the Tiwa Autonomous Council,” said BJP MLA Ramakanta Dewri after casting his vote.
The State Election Commission has enforced strict guidelines in the light of the COVID-19 pandemic.
The counting of votes will be held on December 19.
