Assam: Police seize 51 cattle heads from India-Bangladesh Border

In a successful operation against illegal activities across the India-Bangladesh border in Assam, Dhubri police foiled another cattle smuggling bid and rescued 51 cattle heads from being smuggled to Bangladesh.

As per police, the cattle were being smuggled out to Bangladesh for butchery.

While 25 cattles were recovered were rescued from a boat in Brahmaputra, 16 others were recovered in Tamarhat, 7 in Golakganj and 3 in Nalia.

“51 Cattle rescued before they could smuggle them out to Bangladesh for butchery 25 Cattle with Boat caught in the misty Brahmaputra by Dhubri PS, 16 caught by Tamarhat, 7 by Golakganj and 3 by Nalia from the village roads and bye-lanes,” Dhubri Police tweeted.

On December 14, South Salmara Mankachar Police in continuation with the drive against cattle smuggling recovered two Buffalos and two cattle at Matkhola and Satdubi respectively.

“In continuation to the drive against cattle smuggling 2nos of Buffalo and 2nos of cattles have been recovered at Matkhola & Satdubi respectively under SSM P.S.Case has been registered under appropriate sec of law regarding the matter,” South Salmara Mankachar Police tweeted.
