Assam police arrests 3 wanted dacoits, all from Manipur, recovers arms and live ammo

The arrested persons have been identified as Dimngel Lalboi Michael, Paojalen Dimngel and Thangboi Dimngel, all residents of Saijong under Kangpokpi district of Manipur.
Assam police on Saturday arrested three notorious dacoits wanted in several cases of dacoity and theft in different parts of Cachar district.
Briefing the media about the arrest, Additional SP of Cachar, Subrata Sen said, “Over the past two months, this gang was committing dacoity in various parts of Cachar. During the investigation, arrested accused revealed that they had been residing in the Kolasib Relief Camp in Mizoram, a shelter set up in response to the ongoing ethnic flare up in Manipur.”
The arrested persons have been identified as Dimngel Lalboi Michael, Paojalen Dimngel and Thangboi Dimngel, all residents of Saijong under Kangpokpi district of Manipur.
Acting on a specific intelligence input, Sonai police team under Cachar district launched a search operation. During the operation, police arrested the three accused and recovered a cache of weapons, including a 9mm pistol and 50 rounds of live ammunition.
Police also seized one four wheeler vehicle from them, believed to have been used in the several robberies, including recent robberies at a hardware shop in Sonabarighat near Silchar, a petrol pump in Sonai and a wine shop in Jirighat.
The accused are currently being interrogated by the police.
