Assam police arrested twelve illegal Bangladeshi nationals near the Indo-Bangladesh border fencing in Hatshingimari, South Salmara Mankachar on October 1 night.
Acting on specific information, police officers intercepted the group while they were traveling in a tempo from Meghalaya.
According to sources, the Bangladeshi nationals had entered India two to three months earlier through Dawki in Meghalaya and got fake Aadhar cards to prove themselves as Indian nationals.
The operation, led by Sub-Inspector Zakaria Jafri Borjahan and Samsul Haque Bepari of Kharuabandha police station under the supervision of the Deputy Superintendent of Police (DySP), resulted in their detention in the Fulerchar area of South Salmara Mankachar.
The detained individuals were questioned by police at Kharuabandha police station for further information.
Later, they were handed over to the Border Security Force (BSF) in the Sishumari area of South Salmara Mankachar.
