Assam Police Apprehends 16 Bangladeshi Infiltrators While Trying to Cross Border

Assam Police arrested 16 individuals, including 7 men, 4 women, and 5 children, for illegally crossing the India-Bangladesh border.
Amid series of violence against minority Hindus, illegal infiltrators from Bangladesh continue to sneak into Northeastern states of Indian territories.
On Monday, Assam Police arrested 16 individuals, including 7 men, 4 women, and 5 children, for illegally crossing the India-Bangladesh border.
They had reportedly come to Manakachar in South Salmara from Bangalore via Guwahati. The apprehended individuals confessed to being Bangladeshi nationals during police interrogation.
Assam chief minister Himanta Biswa Sarma in his X handle wrote, “In an excellent op carried out by @SSalmaraPolice, 16 illegal Bangladeshis (7 Male, 4 Female & 5 children) who travelled from Bengaluru to Guwahati Railway Station and moved towards South Salmara Mankachar district were apprehended and upon investigation their nationality as Bangladeshis were confirmed. These people are being pushed back across the border.”
The apprehended individuals identified as Zakir Sk, Md Mehdi Hasan, Rumana Aktar, Md. Rizwan Hawaldar, Jamal Sk, Beauty Begum, Munni Begum, Nushrat Zahan, Rustom Sk, Rubel Qureshi, Chand Mia and 5 children.
Authorities have initiated procedures to deport the suspects back to Bangladesh.
