The women’s cell of Nagaon police on Friday launched the pink police patrol, an initiative to promote women’s safety in Assam’s Nagaon.

Superintendent of Police, Nagaon, Leena Doley launched the special vehicle for service on March 10. The special vehicle will be attached to the women’s cell of Nagaon Police station.

“We had our women’s cell previously and we want to upgrade it for which we also inaugurated a children’s cell along with it. To make the women’s cell strong, we will increase the manpower and deploy as many officers along with the officer-in-charge. The main aim of launching this pink vehicle is to make the rescued child victim feel comfortable and not think that it is a police vehicle, rather take it as a normal vehicle and they will feel happy and not feel traumatized to come in a police vehicle,” said Doley.

The pink vehicle will function based on complaints of abuse, harassment, and molestation. The accused based on such complaints will be brought in the pink bolero to the police station.
