BJP has already registered unopposed victories in the Barak Valley areas. The BJP has so far won 11 Anchalik Panchayat seats in Lakhipur, five Anchalik Panchayat seats in Dholai, 2 Anchalik Panchayat seats in Udharband. The failure to field any candidate by the Congress and other opposition parties has given a cakewalk to the BJP in these Panchayat elections. The local BJP leadership in Cachar district are hopeful that the number of unopposed victories can go up further in the coming days, especially in the Zilla Parishad seats.
