Assam: Newborn Mauled by Dogs in Dholai Area of Cachar

Widespread condemnation on the incident has poured in with many demanding justice for the infant and punishment to those responsible.

A horrific incident has been reported from Dholai in Cachar district of Assam. Residents of Kulicherra Bhavanipur area, found a body of a newborn mauled by stray dogs on Saturday evening.
The grim discovery was made by a passerby, who found a dog tearing at something. Upon closer inspection, he realized it was the body of a newborn.

The news spread rapidly, drawing a crowd to the scene. Disturbing images circulated, showing the extent of the damage to the infant’s body.
Local residents suspect the child was abandoned, possibly the result of a late-term abortion, and left in a secluded area.

Police have recovered the remains, which have been sent to Silchar Medical College for post-mortem examination. Authorities are yet to release an official statement on the matter and the investigation is ongoing.
