Assam Municipal Elections 2022: Ministers, political bigwigs cast their votes

As elections to the 80 municipal bodies are being held today across Assam, Ministers and political bigwigs are also casting their votes in the ongoing civic body polls.

Union Shipping & Ports Minister Sarbananda Sonowal cast his vote at the Sahityarathi Lakshminath Bezbaruah Sahitya Sabha Bhawan in Dibrugarh Ward number 4.

Meanwhile, Assam Minister Jogen Mohan cast his vote in Sivasagar district’s Moran town and Assam Agriculture Minister Atul Bora cast his vote in Bokakhat today.

On the other hand, Rajya Sabha MP and Congress leader Ripun Bora came down from Delhi to cast his vote in Gohpur.

Dibrugarh MLA Prasanta Phukan also cast his vote today. Phukan went to the polling booth with his wife while riding a scooter without any security or escort with them.

Voting for a total of 80 municipal bodies is underway across Assam.

Polling for the civic bodies began at 8 am and would conclude by 4 in the afternoon.

Results for the Assam Municipal Elections 2022 would be declared on March 9.
