Assam Movement martyrs remembered on ‘Swahid Divas’

Assam has been paying tribute to the martyrs who had made supreme sacrifice in the historic Assam Movement from 1979 to 1985. Recalling the martyrs, chief minister Sarbananda Sonowal wrote on Twitter,

Recalling the martyrs, chief minister Sarbananda Sonowal wrote on Twitter, “Solemn tributes to the martyrs of the historic Assam Movement. On this auspicious day, let us remember with pride the glorious legacy of the immortal souls who sacrificed their today to secure our future.”
CM Sonowal and finance minister Himanta Biswa Sarma also attended the inaugural function of Assam Movement martyrs’ memorial ‘Swahid Smarak and Swahid Udyan’ at Paschim Boragaon in Guwahati.
Minister Himanta Biswa Sarma also recalled the supreme sacrifice of the Assam Agitation martyrs.
On the other hand, the All Assam Students’ Union (AASU) leadership including chief advisor Samujjal Kumar Bhattacharjya and president Dipanka Kumar Nath also paid homage to the martyrs.
