Meghalaya Chief Minister Conrad Sangma is all set to meet his Assam counterpart Himanta Biswa Sarma in Guwahati tomorrow to deliberate on the border issue between the two states. This was informed by CM Sangma after a cabinet meeting in Shillong today.

Talking to the media, CM Sangma stated that the cabinet has been apprised of the latest updates on the border talks and that he will be meeting Assam Chief Minister Himanta Biswa Sarma tomorrow to carry the talks forward.

The CM further expressed hope that after tomorrow’s meeting the two neighbouring states will be able to come to a final conclusion in at least six areas of differences that have been taken up in the first phase.

It may be mentioned that earlier CM Conrad Sangma had said that both CMs will fly to Delhi once they are summoned by Union Home Minister Amit Shah to brief him on the recommendations of the various regional committees formed by the two states to resolve the long-pending border issue.

On January 20, the Chief Ministers of both states meet Union Home Minister Amit Shah at CM Sarma’s residence on the inter-state border issue between states and handed over the reports of their regional committees on border issues during the meet.

Assam and Meghalaya CMs have worked on war footing to resolve the decades-old inter-state border dispute and the efforts have shown results in the past few weeks.

Both CMs have also shown an immense political will to sort out the matter once and for all.
