The Khasi Hills Autonomous District Council or KHADC on Monday has urged the Meghalaya Government to review the Memorandum of Understanding signed with the Assam Government to resolve 6 of the 12 areas of difference.

The Chief Executive Member of the KHADC, Titos Chyne called upon the traditional heads of the Himas – Hima Mylliem, Jirang, Nongspung, Jyrngam and Hima Nonglang in order to have a discussion on the issue.

Talking to the media after the meeting, CEM Chyne said that based on the statement made by CM Conrad Sangma on the floor of the House, there are some sections which the Himas do not agree upon. The respective traditional heads have submitted their concerns to the CEM’s Office urging the State Government to reconsider some points regarding the inclusion of some villages.

Chyne further said the KHADC will write and urge the government to review this MoU and to consider some points raised by the Himas.

Meanwhile, KHADC CEM Titos Chyne condemned the vandalism by the Joint Action Committee of Hima Sohiong at the KHADC office on Friday.
