Meghalaya TMC leader, George B Lyngdoh slammed the NPP-led ruling government for concealing the contents of the recommendations, submitted by the various regional Committees formed to resolve the long-pending border dispute between Assam and Meghalaya.

Speaking exclusively to Northeast Live George B Lyngdoh said that he was surprised to learn that the Union Home Minister Amit Shah knows about the recommendations before the people of the state.

He stated that before the Central Government is brought into confidence the people should also know where exactly the demarcation has taken place as the land belongs to the people.

Lyngdoh said that he had hoped that there would be an all-party meeting where the Government would reveal the recommendations but did not happen so he is hopeful that the Government would reveal the same in the upcoming budget session of the assembly.

It may be mentioned that both the Chief Ministers of Assam and Meghalaya had submitted the recommendations of the regional committees to Union Home Minister Amit in their visit to New Delhi in January.

Assam Chief Minister Dr. Himanta Biswa Sarma and his Meghalaya counterpart Conrad Sangma on January 20 met the Union Home Minister at his residence and apprised him of the outcomes of discussions held between the states to resolve the border dispute amicably.
