Assam Health Minister Himanta Biswa Sarma is leading from the front as the health department is working on a war footing to combat any spread of the novel Coronavirus.
In a warlike promptness, a 300 bedded pre-fabricated hospital will be established in Dibrugarh, announced the health minister.
Himanta Biswa Sarma today visited the Assam Medical College and Hospital (AMCH) in Dibrugarh which will be converted to a special facility for treating COVID-19 cases.
Sarma said that the AMCH has been converted to an exclusive medical facility for treating COVID-19 cases will cease to operate from tomorrow for regular patients.
Except the Cardiology, burn unit and the maternity departments, patients of all other departments will be treated in private hospitals. Free services will be made available to patients who would be redirected from the AMCH to the private hospitals.
The health minister inspected the hospital site with legislators Prasanta Phukan and Rituporna Baruah.
Similar other hospitals will also come up in various parts of the state to deal with possible situation.
