In a major breakthrough, Arunachal Pradesh Police have successfully arrested a man accused of twin murder, rape and jail break after an 11-year manhunt.

The arrested accused has been identified as Majibur Rahman, a resident of Gohaidholoni village in Sunapur Circle under Bihpuria Police Station of North Lakhimpur district, Assam.

As per inputs, Majibur Rahman fled from judicial custody over 10 years ago and was evading police for almost 11 years.

Rahman along with two other undertrial prisoners–Buddhram Nayak and Farooq Islam had fleed from jail on the intervening night of August 23–24, 2012.

After that, he proceeded to Nagaon with the other two escapees, left them there, and went to Kerala alone. After a few years in Kerala, he moved to Bengaluru, Karnataka, where he used some old documents to change his name from Majibur Rahman to Atabur Rahman, the name of his younger brother. He has been living as Atabur Rahman ever since.

Once he was sure that he had all the documents necessary to prove his identity as Atabur, he returned to Assam.
