Assam saw the highest increase in subscribers as per Employee Provident Fund Payroll Data
In a significant achievement, Assam has recorded the fastest growth in formal job creation among all states in the country in the first six months of 2023.
Between January 2023 and June 2023, Assam saw the highest increase in subscribers as per Employee Provident Fund Payroll Data.
An increase in payroll subscribers is the best indicator of job creation in the formal sector.
The significant surge in employment can be largely attributed to the Government of India’s proactive efforts to encompass informal workers within the social security framework through the Aatmanirbhar Bharat Rozgar Yojana. This initiative has played a pivotal role in boosting formal employment opportunities across Assam.
Here’s the list of growth rates in payroll subscribers for selected states during this period:
Assam: 33%
Uttarakhand: 28.6%
Bihar: 21.1%
Jharkhand: 20.5%
Himachal Pradesh: 17.1%
It is also due to record jobs being provided to the youth of Assam in the government sector under the state government’s mega recruitment drive.
