“Lachit The Warrior,” a short film portraying the life of the legendary Ahom General Lachit Borphukan, has clinched the Best Animation Award at the 12th Delhi Shorts International Film Festival.
Directed by Partha Sarathi Mahanta, the Deputy Inspector General (DIG) of Assam Police and Chief of the Special Task Force (STF), and produced by Mina Mahanta and Indrani Baruah, this biographical short film has been earning accolades. It was previously honoured with the Best Animation Film award at the 7th Chambal International Film Festival.
“Lachit The Warrior” has been selected for the Indian Panorama at the International Film Festival of India (IFFI) 2023. This will provide a platform to showcase about the legendary Ahom General of Assam to a larger audience at the 54th IFFI scheduled to take place from November 20 to 28, 2023, in the beautiful setting of Goa.
The short film had its debut screening in New Delhi on November 25 last year, coinciding with the 400th birth anniversary celebrations of the Ahom General. This film has captured the attention of both critics and audiences alike, securing recognition for its animation and its portrayal of the remarkable life of General Lachit Borphukan.
The review meeting was attended by Chief Ministers of Arunachal Pradesh, Manipur and Tripura.
