While, some YouTubers and local media outlets reported the entire incident as a ghost scare, some of the locals alleged that it is a sham to create a scary atmosphere just to steal various valuables from some abandoned houses in the area.

The security guard of the paper mill also denied experiencing any unusual activity there.

It is to be noted that after the closure of the Jagiroad paper mill, the Assam government is exploring ways to revive the Cachar paper mill and use the site of the defunct Nagaon paper mill for expansion of the state capital.
