The Crime Investigation Department (CID) is continuing its probe into the question paper leak issue.
Briefing the media in Dibrugarh, GP Singh said that of the 25 arrested, 12 are adults and 13 are children.
Accordingly, the 12 adults have been sent to 3-day custody of CID and
the remaining 13 children have been shifted to juvenile homes where they were questioned by CID following Juvenile Justice Board (JJB) order, said GP Singh.
Besides these 25 accused, police also picked up three more persons for interogation in connection with the case, said GP Singh.
It is learnt that the accused involved in leaking the question papers charged prices ranging from Rs 100 to Rs 3000, and shared it through WhatsApp. They used as many as 4 e-wallets to do the transactions.
As most exam papers were leaked and disseminated via WhatsApp, GP Singh stated he had instructed CID to contact WhatsApp and request information about the original phone number from which the exam paper was leaked.
Moreover, Assam Police, in this regard, has also written to all four e-wallet companies seeking the official transaction history.
GP Singh also urged those linked to the paper leak case who are absconding to voluntarily surrender themselves otherwise police will take stern action against them.
The DGP said that he is optimistic that very soon all the accused linked with the paper leak case will be arrested.
