CID Takes Over Assam HS Exam Paper Leak Case; ASSEB Holds Key Meeting on Rescheduled Exams

The board is expected to take key decisions regarding new exam dates and preventive measures to ensure no further breaches.
The Assam Police CID has officially taken over the investigation into the Higher Secondary (HS) first-year exam paper leak case, which led to widespread controversy and the cancellation of multiple exams. Authorities had to cancel all HS first-year exams scheduled between March 24 and 29 after the question papers for Mathematics and Economics were leaked.
Meanwhile, the Assam State School Education Board (ASSEB) will hold an important meeting at 11 AM today to discuss the next steps for conducting the cancelled exams. The board is expected to take key decisions regarding new exam dates and preventive measures to ensure no further breaches.
The issue first came to light when the Mathematics exam, initially scheduled for March 21, had to be rescheduled due to a reported paper leak. Following the incident, authorities directed institutions to return sealed packets of question papers. However, investigations later revealed that some institutions had already opened the sealed packets a day before the scheduled test, raising serious concerns about the security of the examination process.
With the CID now leading the probe, officials are expected to identify those responsible and implement stricter measures to prevent future leaks. The outcome of the ASSEB meeting will be crucial in determining the fate of thousands of students affected by the cancellations.
