Assam Governor Prof. Jagdish Mukhi and chief minister (CM) Sarbananda Sonowal paid tribute to freedom fighter Kushal Konwar on his day of martyrdom.
Governor Mukhi took to twitter to recall Kushal Konwar who had made supreme sacrifice for the sake of independence of the country.
CM Sonowal offered floral tributes to the martyr of Quit India Movement at Nehru Park in Guwahati. He also interacted with prominent freedom fighter Krishna Lahkar on the occasion.
“Swahid Kushal Konwar is an icon of the Independence Movement, whose valour had provided the spark to the Quit India Movement in Assam,” stated Sonowal.
Kushal Konwar who was born on March 21 in 1905 at Balijan near Sarupathar in Golaghat district was hanged by the British rulers on June 15, 1943 for his active participation in Quit India Movement.
The review meeting was attended by Chief Ministers of Arunachal Pradesh, Manipur and Tripura.
