Assam govt won’t bow to ULFA-I’s demands: Chandra Mohan Patowary

After the United Liberation Front of Asom (Independent) released a statement on Friday that it would take “extreme steps” against the abducted oil drilling company employees the government said that it will not bow down to the demands of the banned outfit.

Speaking to the media Assam Cabinet Minister and Senior BJP leader Chandra Mohan Patowary said, “The job of the government is to protect the lives and property of the people. Whatever the government does, it will do in the interest of the people of the state. So in this case, we can’t accept ULFA’s demand”.

Referring to public safety, Minister Chandra Mohan Patowary said, “Our government is always responsible for ensuring the safety of the people. The police have already taken various measures for this. ”

Asked by the reporters if the intelligence department had failed in this regard, Minister Patowary said that the intelligence department has not failed.

“Today, the Sarbananda Sonowal-led government is moving to complete 5 years. This has not happened in the last five years. If the intelligence agency had failed, such incidents would have happened earlier also,” the minister said.

ULFA (I) rebels had abducted radio operator Ram Kumar and drilling superintendent Pranab Kumar Gogoi from the Kumchaikha hydrocarbon drilling site in Changlang district of Arunachal Pradesh on December 21, 2020.
