Recognizing the outstanding contribution towards society, the Assam government will be honouring 19 personalities with the Assam Gaurav Award, the highest state civilian award.
The award will be presented by Governor Professor Jagdish Mukhi in the presence of Chief Minister Himanta Biswa Sarma tomorrow at Srimanta Shankardev Kalakshetra.
The award will be conferred on the recipients for their exemplary contributions in the fields of administration, health, education, entrepreneurship, farming and more.

Ahead of the award ceremony, Chief Minister Himanta Biswa Sarma took stock of the preparations for the programme at Kalakshetra.
Assam Chief Minister Himanta Biswa Sarma previously stated that the Assam Gaurav award will carry a prize of Rs 4 lakhs. Each year, recipients can receive medical treatment at a government expense of up to Rs 3 lakh.
The Assam Chief Minister had also announced the Assam Vaibhav Award, Assam Saurav Award, and Assam Gaurav Award to be given every year on Assam Diwas. A portal would be opened for the purpose, and the public could give suggestions for nominations for the awards. From next year onwards, the awards will be given on Assam Diwas each year, which falls on December 2, birthday of Chao Lung Siu-Ka-Pha.
