First Published: 13th July, 2023 13:47 IST
The situation has turned extremely grim in Assam's Chirang owing to the incessant rains in neighbouring Bhutan.
Heavy rains along the Indo-Bhutan border have led to a staggering rise in water bodies, thereby inundating over 28 villages and affecting more than 3,000 people. As per reports, villagers stranded in Khunkrajhora, Bhaoraguri, Daisumjhora, Landuguri, and Durgapur were rescued in an overnight operation by SDRF personnel in Bijni. The displaced villagers have currently been shifted to relief camps. While in Basugaon, a group of people tried to rescue a car stuck in floods.
