Prime Minister Narenda Modi today took stock of the flood situation in Assam.
Chief Minister Himanta Biswa Sarma briefed PM Modi about the prevailing scenario during a telephonic conversation. CM Sarma explained the circustances leading to the fresh wave of floods.
The Assam also conveyed that the Prime Minister has assured full support of the Centre in tiding with the crisis.
Sharing more information about PM reviewing the Assam flodd situation, CM Sarma in a post wrote, “Hon’ble Prime Minister Shri @narendramodi Ji called me a short while ago to enquire about the flood situation in Assam. I explained him that Assam is experiencing a second wave of floods this year due to heavy rains in Arunachal Pradesh and part of our upper Assam districts. I also briefed him about the relief measures undertaken by the state government. He assured me of full cooperation from the Government of India in this hour of crisis. #AssamFloods.”

As per the Assam State Disaster Management Authority (ASDMA), 2,62,186 people have been affected by floods in the 12 districts of Kamrup, Karimganj, Tinsukia, Golaghat, Dhemaji, Majuli, Cachar, Lakhimpur, Dibrugarh, Sivasagar, Kokrajhar and Jorhat.
