Assam floods: 12 fishermen stranded in riverine island of Brahmaputra River since Friday

Multiple attempts to rescue the stranded fishermen by SDRF teams today failed due to high tides in Brahmaputra

12 fishermen from eastern Assam’s Dibrugarh district are reportedly stranded on a riverine island of the Brahmaputra River since Friday. This was informed by Moran MLA Chakradhar Gogoi in an exclusive telephonic interview with Northeast Live. Multiple attempts to rescue the stranded fishermen by SDRF teams today failed due to high tides in Brahmaputra. Dibrugarh District Commissioner Bikram Kairi is also monitoring the situation. Kairi has informed MLA Gogoi that the fishermen will be rescued tomorrow morning by using choppers.
