Hosts Assam has been growing from strength to strength in the mega sporting spectacle thus far as medals for the hosts increases.

Assam eve Shivangi Sharma once again did the hosts proud as she won her third individual Gold today in the Swimming event of Khelo India Youth Games 2020.

As the mega sporting spectacle entered Day 9 today, Shivangi Sharma bagged Gold in the 400 meter freestyle (Under-21) swimming event. She earlier won Gold in the 200 meter and 800 meter freestyle #swimming events at Khelo India.

 

Meanwhile, the Assam (Under-21) swimming team won a Silver medal in the 4×100 meter relay at the Khelo India Youth Games 2020. It is to be mentioned that Shivangi Sarma is also among the four-member team.

In the Boys Triple Lawnball event Hosts Assam went on to bag Bronze medal today. However, the Hosts lost the final to Jharkhand.

On Day 8 of the ongoing 3rd Khelo India Youth Games on Friday. Assam weightlifters continued their good show with Sidhanta Gogoi winning the third gold for the host State in the Boys’ (Under-21) 61 kg category event.

Anubhuti Baruah and Rajashree Buragohain also won bronze medals in the Girls’ (U-21) 50 metres butterfly and in Girls’ (U-21) 100 metres breaststroke swimming events respectively.

With today’s wins at the Khelo India Youth Games, Assam thus far has added 12 Gold, 13 Silver and 14 Bronze medals to its kitty. Assam has added 39 medals under its belt and is 7th in the standings

While ‘sporting powerhouse’ of the Northeast Manipur is thus far 11th in the standings. It may be mentioned that, Frontier State Arunachal Pradesh is 22nd in the standings, followed by Mizoram at 24th, with Tripura placed 19th in the standings.
