An elderly woman has suspectedly committed suicide by setting herself on fire, unable to bear the alleged torture and harassment by her sons and daughters-in-law.
The unfortunate incident has been reported from Dee-Chee-yell Village in Assam’s Sivasagar district.
The half-burnt body of the woman, identified as Anu Baruah was recovered from the backyard of her house along with a suicide note this morning.
In a suicide note, the deceased woman mentioned about the torture she had to suffer at the hands of her sons Angshuman Baruah and Nabajyoti Baruah and her daughters-in-law.
The body was spotted by the locals in the morning and immediately informed the police. Police soon reached the spot and took the body into custody. Meanwhile, the body has been sent for post-mortem.
