Police have made no progress so far into the sensational murder of a 21-year-old student inside a moving train in Assam’s Sivasagar district.
The incident that came to light yesterday has sent shock waves across the state. A student of Assam Agriculture University in Jorhat was brutally murdered by a predator who was on the same coach of the Dibrugarh-Rangia Express train in which she was travelling.
But 24 hours after the gruesome incident, the perpetrator of the heinous crime is still absconding with the police saying that they have found some clues to the crime.
As protests mount in Assam over the lack of safety of women in the state, questions are being raised as to how the murder was committed within a span of just 15 minutes from the time she boarded the train.
Meanwhile, the members of the All Assam Students Union staged a protest at the Simoluguri Railway Station. Scores of AASU protesters gathered at the railway station and raised slogans as they demanded justice for the victim and her family.
