Assam: Critically endangered slow loris rescued in Namrup
A critically endangered slow loris which had strayed into the factory premises of Namrup based Brahmaputra Valley Fertiliser Corporation Limited this morning was later rescued and released in the Patkai
A critically endangered slow loris which had strayed into the factory premises of Namrup based Brahmaputra Valley Fertiliser Corporation Limited this morning was later rescued and released in the Patkai forest range by a group of nature lovers.
The nature lover group which included media persons and forest department officials jointly released the animal in the Patkai Forest Range.
It may be mentioned here that the slow loris is a critically endangered Schedule I species as per the Wildlife Protection Act, 1972. The slow loris which is known to belong to a nocturnal non-human primate order found in the north eastern region of India.
