Assam: Cotton University student in hospital after alleged suicide attempt

A higher secondary first year student of Cotton University, Guwahati, was seriously injured after she allegedly tried to commit suicide by jumping from the second floor of the MCB administrative building of the university today.
The injured student is currently undergoing treatment at Nemcare hospital in the city.
Narrating the incident, one of her classmates said “She attended her Education (subject) class and after finishing her classes, she took the extreme step. We saw her sitting quietly, not talking much. When we asked her the reason behind missing her classes, she mentioned that she was having personal issues. She always seemed depressed. She goes to classes alone, hardly spends time with others. Last Friday, I spoke with her, and at that time also she was sounding sad. We could sense she was going through a tough time.”
The reason behind her taking the extreme step is yet to be ascertained.
