The Inspector-in-Charge of Sontoli Police Outpost in Kamrup, Assam, has been accused of allegedly sexually assaulting a woman while on duty.
The accused police officer has been identified as Tinku Goswami.
The incident came to light after the victim filed a case at the Pan Bazaar all women police station, demanding strong action against the accused police inspector-in-charge.
As per the complainant, she had gone to Sontoli Police Outpost to file a case. The complainant in her complaint wrote that he used to call her at odd hours.
On July 16, the complainant alleged that the accused police groped her and tried to rape her. However, when the victim shouted, he let her go free and requested her to not disclose the incident to anyone.
After a week, the complainant filed the matter with the Superintendent of Police, Amingaon.
But after getting no response from the SP, the victim approached the Pan Bazaar women’s police station and filed a case there.
