After facing defeat in the recently concluded assembly elections in all the 5 states, coupled with the results of Majuli by-polls and Civil Polls, it appears like the Congress leaders of Assam are now slowly coming to terms with the party’s dismal political situation.

Assam Chief Minister Himanta Biswa Sarma, who is also one of the top strategists of the BJP, had recently stated that Congress is fast losing its position of being a grand old party to becoming a district-level organization.

Now, the statement by Chief Minister Sarma has been accepted by Congress leader Debabrata Saikia. Speaking to our group channel News Live, Saikia said that the Chief Minister was not wrong in his analogy and he fully approves the opinion.

Saikia’s response was also welcomed by BJP MLA from Dibrugarh Prashanta Phukan. He said that it was only natural for veteran Congress leader like Debabrata Saikia to approve of Chief Minister’s remark since it was a truth no one could deny. Phukan also added that Chief Minister Sarma can predict political outcomes much in advance than any other leader from the BJP.
