Top Assam Congress leaders have written to All India Congress Committee (AICC) state in-charge, Bhanwar Jitendra Singh, urging him to urgently appoint a new Pradesh Congress Committee president so that the party can bounce back to prominence.
The leaders also underlined the fact that even after a month of the party’s poll debacle, no review meeting has taken place to ascertain the causes.
The Congress leaders also informed Singh that the party is in a defunct position as of now as no prominent leader ever visits the Rajib Bhavan. They also requested him to hand over the charge of state PCC to a senior vice-president till a new president is appointed.
Interestingly, top Congress leader and Mariani MLA Rupjyoti Kurmi had on Tuesday hinted that Pradyot Bordoloi or Bhupesh Bora could be picked as the new APCC chief soon.
Meanwhile, UPPL has fielded Nirmal Kumar Brahma for the Sidli Assembly seat.
