Assam chief minister Sarbananda Sonowal on Thursday inaugurated the newly-constructed two-lane flyover at Ganeshguri in Guwahati. Health, finance & education minister Himanta Biswa Sarma and Guwahati Development Department minister Siddhartha Bhattacharya were also present in the event.
In his speech, Sonowal said, “Transportation is transformation. We have been working relentlessly for the development of transportation in the state.”
On the other hand, minister Himanta Biswa Sarma highlighted the various developmental works that the state government has undertaken over last four and half years.
“We have started a tradition. We can also work like Delhi and Kolkata. The work for 16 new flyovers in Assam is going on. The flyover at Guwahati supermarket will be open during Bohag Bihu,” Sarma said.
Sarma further announced that the state government has been constructing 16 new flyovers in different parts of the state. He said that construction work of two more flyovers is going on in Guwahati.
The newly constructed T-wing at the Bishnu Rabha Flyover is 425.50 metre-long and was completed in a record 19 months under the State-Owned Priority Development fund 2019-20 with a project cost Rs. 58.78 crore.
