Assam CM Sarbananda Sonowal buys earthen lamps in Guwahati

In a bid to raise awareness about green Diwali, Assam chief minister Sarbananda Sonowal on Friday purchased locally made earthen lamps in the market of Guwahati.

The chief minister has urged the citizens to support local artisans by purchasing earthen lamps.

Taking to the micro-blogging site Twitter, Sonowal wrote, “The festival of light is incomplete without the earthen lamps made by the local artisans. On the eve of Diwali, I have bought local earthen lamps in Guwahati.”

Sonowal has also requested the citizens to purchase other local products during this Diwali.

“This Diwali, if you are planning to purchase or gift something unique for your loved ones, take a look at the world-famous Eri Silks, a warm and non-violent local product from Assam. #Local4Diwali,” the chief minister office (CMO) tweeted.
