Assam CM: People gave befitting reply to I-Day boycott call

CM Sarma said that Assam has been an integral part of India since the times of Ramayana and Mahabharata and no one can change that fact.

Assam Chief Minister Himanta Biswa Sarma had a clear message to the ULFA-Independent during his I-day speech.

Without taking any names, CM Sarma said those who dream of an Independent Assam have got a befitting reply in the last three days during which people have proved that the tricolor resides in their hearts.

CM Sarma further said that Assam has been an integral part of India since the times of Ramayana and Mahabharata and no one can change that fact.

He further urged those aspiring for an independent Assam to join the mainstream and work together to make Assam the top state in the country.

Meanwhile, in another significant announcement, CM Sarma said that as many as 1 lakh cases pertaining to small crimes like objectionable social media posts among others registered till August 14, 2022, will be withdrawn so that the judiciary can focus on bigger cases.

Speaking on the flood issue CM Sarma said that the destruction of wetlands had led to floods in the state over the years. Sarma informed that a new law will be enacted to protect wetlands.
