Assam chief minister Himanta Biswa Sarma called on Prime Minister Narendra Modi on Wednesday in his first visit to the national capital since assuming office last month.

The Prime Minister’s Office shared a picture of their meeting.

During the meeting, several issues of the state as well as various policies adopted by the government in the development of Assam were discussed. The Chief Minister sought his cooperation in the coming days so that the state can be taken to the pinnacle of development with the help of the Prime Minister’s advice.

Taking to Twitter after the meeting, Sarma tweeted, “Gratitude. His towering vision has taken India to glorious heights of prosperity. Assam has especially been a beneficiary of Prime Minister Sri @narendramodi’s generosity. It’s a great pride to be serving under him as CM of Assam. Met Adarniya PM & took his blessings today.”

Later in the evening, Sarma also met Union Finance Minister Nirmala Sitharaman.

“It has been a privilege for me to work with Union Finance Minister Nirmala Sitharaman for the last two years as a member of the FM and GST Council,” Sarma tweeted.

On Monday, Sarma met Union Home Minister Amit Shah,  Vice President M Venkaiah Naidu and Lok Sabha speaker Om Birla seeking guidance on issues related to the state.

The chief minister is also scheduled to meet Union Petroleum and Natural Gas Minister Dharmendra Pradhan on May 3 to conclude his visit to Delhi.
