Assam Chief Minister Himanta Biswa Sarma, who was in Majuli, vouched for the safeguard of doctors and other medical workers in the state. Addressing to media persons on the sidelines of Raas celebrations today, Chief Minister Sarma said that doctors should be encouraged to work for the people, particularly in rural areas, rather than continuously grilling them when a patient dies.
Chief Minister Sarma doctors can can never guarantee a patient’s life, but they can help them get better with proper treatment. He went on to say that doctors should be treated with dignity.

However, the Assam Chief Minister maintained that if medical officers intentionally provide improper treatment, they will have to face the law. He also stated that the health infrastructure in Majuli will be enhanced in the next 6 months.
Meanwhile, responding to the recent death case of artist Tejaswita Baruah, Chief Minister Sarma informed that the young girl had died after she stopped taking the medicines prescribed by her doctor.
Citing the postmortem report, Chief Minister Sarma said that Tejaswita’s parents had stopped giving her the routine medicines, which eventually led to her untimely demise.
