“Assam’s first clean and green village” desires to get promoted as tourist spot

People in “Assam’s first clean and green village” in lower Assam’s Bajali district have raised their demand for development.

In 2019, a Swacch Bharat Abhiyan report termed the village as a ‘clean and green village’. Fast forward two years, there has not been any significant progress so far as the development of the village is concerned.

One of the locals, while speaking to Northeast Live, said that the villagers want to promote the area as a tourist spot. In this regard, he added that the government could build tourist spots such as a museum, resort, children’s park, and proper road connectivity along with an entry gate to attract tourists from different parts of the country as well as abroad.

He further appealed to Assam Chief Minister Himanta Biswa Sarma and local MLA Ranjit Kumar Das to look into the matter. Worth mentioning here, the people have been striving hard to retain the clean village tag. They even impose a fine of Rs 500 on anyone found using plastic bags.
