Shubhalaskhmi Dutta, the Additional Superintendent of Police (ASP) in Charaideo district of Assam who is accused of physically assaulting and torturing her domestic help in eastern Assam’s Nazira, has gone missing.
A massive manhunt has been launched by the Assam Police to trace the absconding police official.
Last night, an intensive search was also carried out at her residence at the Parle Residency apartments in Guwahati.
It is learnt that Shubhalaskhmi had been hiding in this apartment since the past 5 days. However, she reportedly escaped before the police could arrive at the apartment.
On August 27, a case was registered against Dutta based on a complaint filed by her domestic help at the Nazira police station in Sivasagar district.
In the FIR, the victim domestic help has alleged that Dutta poured hot water on her on several occasions and also threatened her.
The victim stated that last Saturday, she somehow escaped through the bathroom of the house, where she was allegedly kept confined by Dutta.
Shubhalaskhmi Dutta was placed under suspension in the interest of fair investigation into the matter.
Reports said that Dutta had earlier physically assaulted a home guard personnel and armed branch constable in 2019 in Sivasagar district.
Both of the assault cases were registered at Sivasagar Police Station.
