Assam: Cachar Police Arrest Prime Suspect in Rs. 10 Crore Ransom Demand Case Linked to Lashkar-e-Taiba

The threat, made on 21st February by an individual claiming ties with the banned Lashkar-e-Taiba (LeT), triggered an extensive investigation.

In a significant breakthrough, Cachar Police has arrested the prime suspect in a Rs 10 crore extortion case involving Jhandu Infratech Ltd., a highway construction company.

The threat, made on 21st February 2025 by an individual claiming ties with the banned Lashkar-e-Taiba (LeT), triggered an extensive investigation.

Initially, police arrested two accomplices, Md. Alekuddin and Ajiruddin, from Kalain, based on a tip-off.

Further technical analysis and coordination with Meghalaya Police led to the capture of the main accused, Boktar Hussain, in East Jaintia Hills, Meghalaya, along with his associate, Samsir Uddin Barbhuiya.

Authorities recovered a mobile phone and SIM card used in the extortion attempt. Investigations are ongoing to uncover further links and potential threats.
